CDS-John Blue's Liquid Blockage Monitor System Wins 2014 ASABE AE50 Award

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

November 25, 2013 - ST. JOSEPH, MI - The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) recently announced that CDS-John Blue Company has won an AE50 award.

CDS-John Blue Company developed the Electronic Liquid Blockage Monitor (LBMS), deemed one of the year's most innovative designs in engineering products or systems for the food and agriculture industries. The Liquid Blockage Monitor will be featured in the January/February 2014 special AE50 issue of ASABE's magazine Resource: Engineering & Technology for a Sustainable World.

"Our goal at CDS-John Blue Company is to develop technology which can benefit our farmers to improve their crops and thus their profits. A grower wants to know immediately when they are not applying the correct amount of product; it is critical to proper management," said Jim Stubbs, CEO, CDS-John Blue Company.

The CDS-John Blue LBMS uses magnetic sensing technology mounted behind the CDS-John Blue VisaGage II Flow Monitors. The operator is alerted with an audible alarm and visual display when the ball and flow in an individual row has dropped below a selected level. Each row with a distribution problem will be highlighted by a flashing LED light at the row. The flashing LED light eliminates the need to remember or search for which row is blocked after you come to a stop.

Two display options are available, the standard wired display or the popular wireless Apple i-Pad®. A grower can select at which level on the VisaGage the alarm will sound when a ball drops to or below that level. The Apple i-Pad Premium System will also display high flow for broken lines. LBMS i-Pad App is free and available from the Apple App Store.

Companies from around the world submit entries to the annual AE50 competition and up to 50 of the best products are chosen by a panel of international engineering experts. The judges select products that will best advance engineering for the food and agriculture industries.

The AE50 awards program is sponsored by Resource to emphasize the role of new products and systems in bringing advanced technology to the marketplace. These engineering developments help farmers, food processors and equipment manufacturers cut costs, enhance quality and increase profits.
